No Respite From Heat Wave: 11 Places In Odisha Record 40 Degree Celsius Or More; Boudh Hottest

Bhubaneswar: Heat wave continued to prevail in most parts of Odisha as 11 places recorded maximum temperature of 40 degree Celsius or more on Saturday.

According to evening bulletin of the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, Boudh was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 42.9 degree Celsius.

Boudh was followed by Jharsuguda with 42.6 degree Celsius, Sambalpur 41.8, Nuapada 41.4, Sonepur 41.3 and Hirakud 41.1 degree.

The IMD has forecast that no large change is likely in maximum temperature (day temperature) at many places in
Odisha during next 5 days. It is likely to be 42 degree Celius or more at one or two places during next 24 hours and at a few places during subsequent 4 days in some districts including Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Boudh, Sonepur, Bargarh, Balangir, Kalahandi  and Jharsuguda.

Hot and discomfort weather is very likely to prevail due to the rise in temperature. The Met office has advised the people to take precautionary measures while going outside during day time between 11 am and 3 pm during the period.

The weather office has also issued orange earning and forecast that thunderstorm with lightning, hail and gusty
surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi by 8.30 am on Sunday.
