No Shortage Of Ropes For Pulling Lords’ Chariots: Niti Prasasak

Puri: There will be no shortage of ropes for pulling the chariots of the Lords during Rath Yatra and Bahuda Yatra in Puri this year. This was revealed at the third coordination meeting held here on Monday.
Talking to mediapersons after the meeting, Niti Prasasak of the Jagannath Temple Pradipta Kumar Das said out of 14 ropes required for pulling the chariots, 12 ropes have been completed by the Odisha Cooperative Coir Corporation Ltd while the ongoing strike by the employees has stalled the work on the remaining two.
“The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has a stock of 20 ropes that can be used in case the Corporation fails to deliver the remaining two ropes,” Das added.
He further said that a team led by the Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty will meet the agitating employees of the Corporation on Tuesday in this connection.
The meeting also decided that cleaning of the drains in Puri town will be completed by June 30 and repair and renovation of the bus stand before Rath Yatra.
To ensure proper sanitation during the festival, a senior officer in the rank of deputy secretary will monitor the work.
The meeting also revealed that the East Coast Railway (ECoR) will run 186 Rath Yatra Special trains to ease the rush of passengers from different parts of Odisha and the neighbouring states.
The meeting held at Gopapandhu Ayurvedic College conference hall was presided over by the Revenue minister in the presence of chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Central, Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal, SP Sarthak Sarangi, ministers Niranjan Pujari and Susanta Singh.
