Cuttack: Vice-Chancellor of Ravenshaw University Ishan Patra on Tuesday made it clear that there would be no sine die for the institute.
Talking to mediapersons after being detained for about 12 hours in his office by the agitating students demanding election in the university, Patra said he cannot ruin the future of his students because of a few unruly ones.
Expressing displeasure over the ongoing unrest on the campus, the Vice-Chancellor said appropriate action would be taken against the errant students.
He also said that the university authority will serve a show-cause notice on girl students who had returned to their hostel late on Monday. Action would be taken against them if they fail to give a satisfactory reply, he added.
Meanwhile, Phulbani Autonomous College was closed sine die on Tuesday after a decision in this regard was taken by the staff council following pre-poll violence on the campus. Police have detained five students for their alleged involvement in the damaging college property on Monday night.
