Cuttack: Vice-Chancellor of Ravenshaw University Ishan Patra on Tuesday made it clear that there would be no sine die for the institute.
Talking to mediapersons after being detained for
ed-by-cops-12-hours-after-being-gheraoed-by-students/”>about 12 hours in his office by the agitating students demanding election in the university, Patra said he cannot ruin the future of his students because of a few unruly ones.
Expressing displeasure over the ongoing unrest on the campus, the Vice-Chancellor said appropriate action would be taken against the errant students.
He also said that the university authority will serve a show-cause notice on girl students who had returned to their hostel late on Monday. Action would be taken against them if they fail to give a satisfactory reply, he added.
Meanwhile, Phulbani Autonomous College was closed sine die on Tuesday after a decision in this regard was taken by the staff council following pre-poll violence on the campus. Police have detained five students for their alleged involvement in the damaging college property on Monday night.
