Bhubaneswar: There will be no students’ union election in Utkal University this year.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the University PG Council here on Saturday.
Briefing mediapersons after the meeting, adviser of the University Students’ Union, Basant Kumar Mallick said the Council decided not to conduct the election in view of the ongoing political unrest on the campus.
It may be recalled that the varsity had recently witnessed clash between two groups of students.
The students’ union election in the university was also cancelled last year following incidents of violence.
