Puri: No passenger vehicle will be charged with the toll gate fee during Rath Yatra, Bahuda and Suna Besha festivals of the sibling deities in Puri.
PK Mahapatra, chief administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), told the media on Friday that a decision was taken considering the heavy rush of vehicular traffic on these three days.
“Puri-bound passenger vehicles are used to paying the toll gate fee at the Pipili toll gate. Since there will be a heavy flow of passenger vehicles to Puri during Rath Yatra, Bahuda and Suna Besha festivals, there will be an inordinate delay in the collection of the toll fee which will lead to traffic congestion. Keeping this in view, it has been decided that these vehicles will be allowed without paying the toll gate fee at Pipili on these days,” Mahapatra added.
He further said that for the safety of the passengers, five ambulance vans will be stationed alongside the National Highway between Puri and Bhubaneswar from July 1 to 15.
