Jajpur: A week after his alleged abduction, Ranpur Panchayat Ward No. 3 member Dhaneswar Sethi was found near Binjharpur police station in Odisha’s Jajpur late on Tuesday evening.
Police said that he appeared exhausted and later taken for a medical examination.
According to sources, Sethy went missing on October 1 shortly after visiting Binjharpur, following which his family lodged a police complaint alleging that he was kidnapped to prevent him from voting in the no-confidence motion against the local sarpanch scheduled for October 8.
Sources further stated that Sethi had expressed support for the no-trust motion, which was later postponed amid the abduction claims.
Police are examining call records, CCTV footage, and possible witnesses to trace the route and location where Sethi was held during the week.
