Mumbai: Television couple Mahhi Vij and Jay Bhanushali have announced their separation after 14 years of marriage.
Parents to three children — their biological daughter Tara and two adopted kids, Khushi and Rajveer – Mahhi and Jay posted a joint statement on Instagram, explaining their decision and stressing that the separation is mutual and rooted in respect and understanding.
In the note, the actors said they will continue to support each other and remain friends, jointly parent their three children, adding that peace, kindness and humanity have always guided their choices. They emphasised that while their journey as husband and wife has ended, they will continue to stand by each other for the sake of their children.
They stressed that their priority remains the well-being of the kids, whom they will co-parent with mutual respect and understanding.
“There is no villain in this story. We chose p
eace over drama,” the statement read, underlining that the decision was taken amicably. They also underlined that there is no negativity or blame attached to the decision to separate.
Rumours of trouble in their marriage had been circulating since late 2025, with speculation about divorce and alimony demands.
Mahhi had earlier dismissed reports which suggested she was seeking Rs 5 crore in alimony. The couple had refrained from public comment until now, choosing to maintain dignity while dealing with intense scrutiny.

After dating for five months, Mahhi and Jay got married on 11th November, 2011. The couple adopted Khushi and Rajveer, children of their domestic help, and took responsibility for their upbringing in 2017. Their biological daughter Tara was born in August 2019, completing their family of five members.
