Cuttack: Odisha’s Cuttack city, which is known for its grand celebration during Dussehra, will be devoid of giant welcome gates this year as per the order of the High Court.
Hearing a case related to various civic issues on Thursday, the Orissa High Court expressed concern over poor road conditions in the Silver City and directed the puja committees not to erect any arch or welcome gate during the celebration of Dussehra festival.
The court also pulled up the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) for not taking steps to repair damaged roads before the annual festival.
Appearing before the High Court on virtual mode, secretary, Works department said the road repair works would be completed by October 5. The court fixed next date for hearing of the case on October 3.
