Puri: Stating that no one can stop the work of Lord Jagannath, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday asked the Centre to remove the new bylaws framed by the National Monument Authority (NMA) for Srimandir in Puri.
“The Central government should immediately remove these new bylaws. Nobody can stop the work of Lord Jagannath. Nobody can stop the good work for the Lord,” the CM said after visiting the temple for the first time after the pandemic broke out.

“This is the first time that I am visiting the temple in the time of the COVID pandemic. I prayed to the Lord for the peace and prosperity of the people. I again thank the people who have made their sacrifices for the temple,” Naveen said.
Earlier, the CM had arrived at Talabania in a helicopter. He then proceeded to the Jagannath temple for darshan.
It may be mentioned that the chief administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has written to the member secretary of NMA of the Ministry of Culture, requesting an immediate withdrawal of the draft notification on heritage bylaws for the temple to “protect the interest” of the Lords, sevayats and devotees.
