Bhubaneswar: The Congress on Friday received a setback as the nomination papers of its candidate for the Jayadev constituency, Sukanta Tiadi Bhoi were rejected by the Returning Officer during verification.
With Bhoi out of the race, there will be a direct fight between BJD candidate Arabinda Dhali and his BJP counterpart Narendra Nayak.
The candidature for the Jayadev seat had triggered commotion in the BJD after the party leadership replaced the sitting MLA and Finance Minister Sashibhusan Behera with Dhali.
Election to this constituency will be held in the third phase scheduled on April 23.
