Mumbai: Nora Fatehi has landed in legal trouble after an aviation company filed a ₹3 crore civil defamation suit against the actor over her alleged remarks about its aircraft.
The aviation company has approached a Gandhinagar court, alleging that Nora’s social media comments describing its aircraft as a “Lego airplane” were “derogatory and reckless” and caused serious reputational damage.
The matter will be heard by Senior Civil Judge R. Agarwal on September 25.
Dunes Aviation, in its suit, has alleged that Nora filmed videos inside its Cessna Citation CJ2 aircraft during a Mumbai-Jaipur flight in December last year.
In the videos, the actor allegedly referred to the aircraft as a “miniature”, “toy” and “Lego airplane”, before sharing the footage on Instagram.
The company claimed that Nora’s comments, which reached her massive following of over 4.6 crore, resulted in booking cancellations and adversely affected its business operations.
According to the suit filed in April, Nora’s statements were allegedly made without proper technical knowledge, verification or any factual basis. The company described the remarks as “reckless” and “irresponsible”.
Dunes Aviation further claimed that the actor’s substantial social media following amplified the impact of her comments, resulting in “serious reputational damage, loss of goodwill and adverse commercial impact” for the company.
The aviation firm alleged that its bookings declined by 15–20 per cent, while cancellations increased following the actor’s remarks.
The company maintained that the aircraft was a standard model, appropriately sized for the journey, and was fully certified by the DGCA, airworthy and lawfully operated under a valid Non-Scheduled Operator’s Permit (NSOP).
Apart from seeking ₹3 crore in damages, Dunes Aviation has also asked the court to direct the immediate removal of social media content containing the alleged statement or references to the aircraft. The company has further sought a public clarification from Nora Fatehi.
