Bhubaneswar: Amid gradual rise in temperature across Odisha, many parts of the state were enveloped by dense fog, disrupting normal life and vehicular movement on Friday morning.
Despite considerable respite from biting cold, people in many parts of the state experienced dense fog on Friday. A thick blanket of fog created problems for the commuters and early office-goers in different areas.
The steel city of Rourkela experienced ‘very dense’ fog with visibility level getting reduced to 40 metres, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Normal life was also affected in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar amid disruption of vehicular movement.
As per the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre, dense fog was experienced in Cuttack, Nayagarh, Phulbani and Koraput. Visibility level in Nayagarh was reduced to 60 metres.
Moderate fog was experienced in Bhubaneswar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Khurda, and Bhawanipatna. Shallow and light fog was experienced in Paradip and Sambalpur.
Koraput remained the coldest place in the sate in the last 24 hours recording night temperature of 8 degree Celsius. Night temperature stood below 10 degree Celsius only in three places in the state. Both G Udaygiri and Daringbadi in Kandhamal district, recorded 9 degree Celsius, the MeT Centre said.
The IMD had earlier predicted there would be no large change in the minimum temperature (Night temperature) over the districts of Odisha during the next five days.
As per IMD, the minimum temperature is likely to be above normal by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius at many places over the districts of Odisha during the next five days. The IMD has also issued a yellow warning for dense fog in several districts of the state.
