Nor’wester Forecast For Five Days In Odisha, Heavy Rain Warning For Eight Districts

Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha will experience increased rainfall activity for next five days with heavy rainfall at one or two places in eight districts under the influence of a cyclonic circulation.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a mid-day bulletin on Saturday said that a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and its neighbourhood will trigger the rainfall activity in Odisha from Saturday till June 3 with heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Kandhamal, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Angul,  Dhenkanal and Mayurbhanj.

In view of the increased rainfall, IMD has issued yellow warning and orange warning for the following districts.

May 30
(Yellow warning)
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nawarangpur, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Gajapati and Kandhamal.

May 31
(Orange warning)
Thunderstorm with lightning and squally wind speed reaching 50-60 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore,  Bhadrak,  Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul,  Ganjam, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Khurda and Deogarh.

Heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Kandhamal, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Ganjam, Angul,  Dhenkanal and Mayurbhanj.

June 1
(Yellow warning)
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Balangir, Kalahandi and Kandhamal.

June 2
(Yellow warning)
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj.

June 3
(Yellow warning)
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak,  Balasore,  Keonjhar, Jajpur, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Balangir, Gajapati, Rayagada and Koraput.

Due to the change in the weather condition, the day temperature in Odisha came down sharply. While Boudh recorded the maximum temperature with 43 degree Celsius and Talcher (40.5), the remaining areas of the state remained under 40 degree Celsius.

The IMD has said that there will be no large change in the day temperature during next 3-4 days in the state.
