Nor’wester Warning For 8 Odisha Districts

Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday issued a Nor’wester warning for eight Odisha districts.

“Going by the latest Doppler weather radar and satellite imagery, thunder with lightning accompanied by light rainfall will occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Nabarangpur, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nayagarh, Kandhamal Koraput and Mayurbhanj between 2.30pm and 5.30pm. The people of these nine districts are advised to remain alert during the period,” said the centre, in an afternoon release.

Apart from this, the centre, in its mid-day weather bulletin, also said that a cyclonic circulation extending over Bangladesh and the neighbourhood at 0.9km above the mean sea level has moved away while an east-west trough line extending up to 1.5km above the mean sea level runs from west Rajasthan to east Madhya Pradesh. Besides, another cyclonic circulation lies over west Assam and adjoining sub-Himalayan Bengal at 3.1km above the mean sea level.

Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall or thunder shower will prevail at a few places in the state for five days up to April 15 with thunderstorm and lightning warning at one or two places in the state.

The date-wise thunderstorm and lightning warning for the districts is as mentioned below:

April 11: Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khurda, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak and Sundargarh.

April 12: Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Balangir, Boudh, Angul, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Sundargarh.

April 13: Balangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam and Nayagarh.

April 14: Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Kandhamal.

April 15: South coastal Odisha, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Mayurbhanj

Due to change in the weather condition, the maximum and minimum temperature in most parts of Odisha will remain between 37 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively, the release further said.
