Washington: After Russia launched its biggest airstrike on Ukraine since the onset of the war, US President Donald Trump, lost his cool and warned, while referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin, “If he wants all of Ukraine, it’ll lead to Russia’s downfall.”
Trump had however previously shown patience with Putin. While speaking to reporters at the Morristown airport in New Jersey on Sunday, Trump said, “I’m not happy with Putin.”

“He’s killing a lot of people. And I don’t know what the hell happened to Putin! I’ve known him a long time. Always gotten along with him. But he’s sending rockets into cities and killing people. And I don’t like it at all,” he said.
“We’re in the middle of talking and he’s shooting rockets into Kyiv and other cities! I don’t like it at all. I don’t like what Putin is doing, not even a little bit. He’s killing people. And something happened to this guy, and I don’t like it,” he added.

Russia launched 367 drones and missiles across Ukraine on Sunday night. It struck multiple cities, including Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital.
At least 12 people were reportedly killed in the attack. Several others sustained injuries. The Ukrainian Air Force claimed to have shot down 45 missiles and destroyed 266 drones.
According to Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, more than 30 cities and villages were affected by the Russian airstrikes.
Trump also took to his social media platform Truth Social to rebuke Putin over the strikes. These attacks have come at a time when there has been a prisoner swap between the two countries.
“I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY! He is needlessly killing a lot of people, and I’m not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being shot into Cities in Ukraine, for no reason whatsoever,” Trump wrote.
What did Zelenskyy say?
Earlier, Zelenskyy had said he was disappointed with the international response, specifically hinting at the the US. “The world may go on vacation, but the war continues, despite weekends and weekdays,” Zelenskyy had said, adding that America’s silence, and the silence of others in the world, only encourages Putin.
Recently, Trump had attempted to broker a war ceasefire. He spoke with Putin last week and has also been in touch with Zelenskyy.
However, peace efforts suffered when Putin failed to show up for a scheduled peace meeting in Turkey. Despite calls from the international community, Russia has continued to escalate its attacks.
