Dr Nrimal Garabadu
Bhubaneswar: Well-known medicine specialist Dr Nirmal Garabadu passed away here on Monday afternoon. He was 71. He is survived by his wife Namita, daughter Sunanda and son Anand.
According to family sources, Garabadu was ailing for the last some months and recently undergone kidney transplantation. However, his condition deteriorated last week and he was admitted at a private hospital here.
Garabadu, an alumnus of SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH), Cuttack, was a private medical practitioner and founded one of the first private nursing homes, Health Care at Mahatab Road, in Cuttack. He was the eldest among five children of noted engineer and entrepreneur, late Trilochan Garabadu, and Kaushalya Garabadu.
Born on May 7, 1951, in Cuttack, Garabadu completed his matriculation from Ravenshaw Collegiate School in 1967 and intermediate in science from Ravenshaw College in 1969. He did his MBBS and MD from SCBMCH. Widely travelled and revered by the medical fraternity, he won several awards and recognitions and published numerous research papers in national and international journals.
His last rites will be performed at Swargadwar in Puri.
