Cuttack: Noted trade union leader and litterateur Souribandhu Kar’s oil portrait was unveiled under the auspices of Utkal Sahitya Samaj, Odisha’s oldest literary organisation, at Ramachandra Bhavan in Cuttack on Thursday.
Minister of Steel and Mines Prafulla Kumar Mallick, Khandapada MLA and Editor of vernacular daily Sambad Soumaya Ranjan Patnaik and writer and former president of Utkal Sahitya Samaj Bijayananda Singh attended the event as guests.
They recalled the contribution of Kar to Odia literature and hailed him as a writer whose writing reflected deep compassion for the poor and the downtrodden.
The office-bearers of Utkal Sahitya Samaj coordinated the function. The meeting was presided by Gobinda Chandra Chand, president of Utkal Sahitya Samaj.
