Bhubaneswar: Distinguished neurosurgeon Dr Pratap Kumar Pani joined Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Monday.
Dr Pani, founding member of Bangalore Odia Samaj and former president of SCB Medical College Students’ Union, joined BJD at the party headquarters Sankha Bhawan in Bhubaneswar in the presence of senior leaders.
Along with him, another founding member of Bangalore Odia Samaj Nihar Ranjan Samantray also joined BJD at the special event.
Senior vice-president of BJD Debi Prasad Mishra and MP Manas Mangaraj welcomed them into the ruling party, a BJD press release said.
Expressing happiness over his entry into BJD, Dr Pani said he decided to join the party after being inspired by the people-centric and welfare measures taken in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
