Bhawanipatna: Eminent Odia poet and writer Saroj Bal will be conferred with the prestigious ‘Bhubaneswar Behera Literary Award’ for this year for his outstanding contribution in the field of literature.
Instituted by Mahavir Cultural Association of Bhawanipatna, the coveted literary award will be presented to Bal on the occasion of Mahavir Mahotsav being organised on November 14, according to General Secretary of the association, Satyanarayan Singh.
Known for his creativity and powerful writing, Bal has been writing poetry and fiction in Odia language. He has 9 poetry collections, 6 collections of short stories and 2 novels to his credit.
Winner of many awards for his literary works, Bal has bagged Katha Nabaprativa Award, Rabi Patnaik Memorial Award, Basanta Muduli Kabita Award, State Youth Award and Kadambinee Feature Award. He also has edited a number of literary journals.
