Bhubaneswar: Veteran Odia poet Subhendu Mohan Das passed away following a brief illness in Balasore. He was 89.
Das, who was ailing for some time, breathed his last on Friday, family sources said.
Known for his versatility, Das had carved a special identity for himself in the field of Odia, English and Bengali literature. He had started his career in 1946 with his writings in ‘Dagar’ magazine.
His collection of poems ‘Tinoti Niswasara Akash’ had earned accolades in literary circles.
A host of distinguished personalities, including writers and poets, have mourned his demise.
