Cuttack: The Sahitya Bharati Samman for 2019 will be conferred on eminent poet and author Dr Sarat Chandra Pradhan in recognition of his lifetime achievement in the field of poetry, critical appreciation, translation and autobiography.
Instituted by the Gangadhar Rath Foundation Trust, the award, carrying a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a silver filigree work of the Konark temple, will be conferred on Dr Pradhan at the award-giving ceremony at Kala Vikash Kendra on the evening of March 17.
Besides Pradhan, the Trust will give away the Gangadhar Rath Smaraki Samman to veteran political leader Sheikh Matlub Ali, Bhanuji Rao Smaraki Puraskar to well-known poet Dr Aparna Mohanty, Binapani Mohanty Katha Sahitya Puraskar to noted novelist Krushna Sagar Sahu and Subrat Rath Smaraki Puraskar to poet Pritidhara Samal and litterateur Saroj Bal, the foundation’s trustee Dr Jayant Kumar Rath said.
