Bhubaneswar: Eminent educationist and Sanskrit scholar Prof Narasingha Charan Panda will be honoured with the prestigious Bagdevi Samman-2024.
The Keshab-Subhadra Foundation has announced the selection of Prof Panda for the award. This recognition honours his remarkable contributions to the preservation and promotion of Sanskrit, as well as his dedicated efforts to spread its knowledge beyond India.
Prof Panda’s illustrious career spans decades of teaching and research. He has served as a Professor at the Central University of Odisha, where he is currently the Dean of the School of Languages, Professor in the Department of Sanskrit, and acting Registrar. He has also held significant positions, including acting Vice-Chancellor of the university.
Prof Panda’s academic journey includes noteworthy tenures at Banaras Hindu University and Panjab University, earning him widespread admiration. His contributions abroad are equally commendable, with four years of service as a Professor in Thailand and Mauritius, where he showcased exceptional expertise in Sanskrit scholarship.
The scholar has received numerous accolades for his dedication to Sanskrit, including the prestigious Sanskrita Mahamahopadhyaya Award. His life and work remain an inspiration for scholars and students alike.
Prof Panda will be presented the award on January 19, 2024 at a ceremony to be held at Zilla Sansruti Bhawan in Puri.
