Notices Served To Eight Malls For Flouting Fire Safety Norms

Bhubaneswar:  Fire services department on Tuesday served notices to
eight shopping malls in Bhubaneswar for flouting safety norms.

“The authorities of The World Shopping Mall in Kharvel Nagar and
Nayapalli, Forum Mart and Big Bazaar in Kharvel Nagar and Nayapalli,
Pantaloons Shopping Complex at Saheed Nagar, Pal Heights in Jaydev
Vihar, Maruti Mall on Nandankanan Road and V2 Shopping Mall in
Nayapalli have been asked to upgrade or install necessary safety
equipment within the next two months, failing which action will be
initiated against them, Civil Defence Director Bijay Kumar Sharma
informed.

On Saturday, surprise inspections were conducted in as many as 10
shopping malls in the capital city to check whether they have adhered
to the fire prevention and safety rules or not.
