Notorious Criminal Nabbed In Bhubaneswar After Year-Long Hunt

Bhubaneswar: In a major success for Commissionerate Police, a notorious criminal allegedly involved in at least 15 sensational cases was arrested in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday after absconding for around a year.

Acting on reliable information, a special squad of Laxmi Sagar police station carried out a raid and caught the criminal, identified as Manoj Behera, from Jagannath Nagar in the Odisha capital.

A 7.65 mm semi automatic country-made pistol, two magazines of fire arms, and nine live ammunition were seized from Behera, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pratik Singh said.

The accused, who hails from Burla in Sambalpur district, was staying in rickshaw Colony in Kharavela Nagar in the city, but was absconding since a firing incident in March 2022, he said.

Police said Behera is a diehard criminal and was wanted in Jharapada petrol pump firing, He had started his criminal activities around eight years ago. The accused is involved in around 15 cases relating to many heinous and sensational crimes in Bhubaneswar and other parts of Odisha.
