An Indian is among a group of scientists from Georgia Institute of Technology, US, to have designed a new reusable face mask that protects wearers and those around them from the novel coronavirus. It is also comfortable enough to wear all day.
People have often complained about the difficulty in breathing or spectacles getting covered by vapour while wearing a face mask too long. This novel mask, developed by scientists including Sundaresan Jayaraman, will address those issues as it combines a filtration material with a stretchable fabric to hold it in place, The Indian Express has reported.
A study published in The Journal of the Textile Institute says that prototypes have been made for testing hook and eye fasteners on the back of the head to keep the mask on. The mask also includes a pocket for an optional filter to increase protection.
