Now, CBSE Introduces Chapter On Dating & Relationships In Class 9 Textbook

New Delhi: Despite emerging as one of the world’s quickest developing nations, India remains a conservative country in matters like sex education.

Forget that highly controversial subject, even adolescent and teenage romance are considered to be taboo in most Indian families. Parents are often uncomfortable discussing their school or college-going children’s boyfriends and girlfriends.

Now, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to address the issue by introducing relevant chapter dealing with teenagers’ relationships in its Value Education books for class IX students.

There will be dedicated chapters delving into intricacies of dating and relationships, the aim being to provide students with essential knowledge and also define terminologies such as ‘ghosting,’ ‘catfishing’ and ‘cyberbullying,’ India Today reported.

The material also covers topics like crushes and special friendships through relatable stories and examples.

Users on X shared pictures which were claimed to be from CBSE’s book.

However, CBSE issued a clarification on the viral image of the textbook.

Rubbishing claims made on X, CBSE board said it does not publish books and that a section of media is “wrongly attributing” a book to be a publication of CBSE.
