New Delhi: It’s the turn of Communist Party of India (CPI) to be slapped a notice by the Income-Tax (I-T) department in election season.
In its notice, I-T department has demanded from the Left party dues of Rs 11 crore resulting from the use of an old Permanent Account Number (PAN) card in tax filings in recent years, The Times of India reported quoting sources.
The Left party is seeking legal advice to challenge the notice of pending payments, which include penalties and interest due to discrepancies in the use of outdated PAN card.
The Congress recently revealed receiving I-T notices amounting to Rs 1,823 crore in dues, while Trinamool Congress leader Saket Gokhale claimed to have received 11 I-T notices in the past 72 hours.
