Mumbai: Is Arnab Goswami, known for his high decibel histrionics on TV news shows, eyeing to woo Odia audiences now?
The question is uppermost in everybody’s mind with reports coming in of the Arnab Goswami-promoted Republic Media Network planning to launch news channels in all major Indian languages, including Odia.
The network currently owns and operates two channels —Republic TV (English) and Republic Bharat (Hindi).
“Starting January 2020, Republic Media Network will publish and broadcast in all major Indian languages,” Arnab, who is also the editor-in-chief of Republic Media Network, announced at the network’s second Republic Summit.
He also announced that the network will expand its news operations globally. “Republic Media Network has formally begun the process of expanding into global news operations,” news site Television Post quoted Arnab as saying.
Earlier in May, Republic Media Network had bought back shares in ARG Outlier from Rajeev Chandrasekhar’s Asianet News Media to become a fully editor controlled company. At that time, Republic Media Network was valued at Rs 1,200 crore.
However, Asianet News Media continues to support Republic Media Network as a minority portfolio investor.
