London: There seems to be no end to Rahul Gandhi’s troubles.
Former IPL chairman Lalit Modi has said he will sue the Congress leader in a UK court over his comments linking Lalit to corruption and money-laundering.
A week after Rahul was handed a 2-year jail sentence and disqualified as Lok Sabha Member of Parliament by a lower court in Gujarat, Lalit took to Twitter to lash out against the politician.
Lalit, who faced allegations of financial irregularities in IPL and has been living in the UK London since 2010, said he “looked forward to seeing him (Rahul) make a complete fool of himself.”
Rahul’s comment ‘How come all thieves have the common surname Modi?’ during an election rally in 2019 was seen as an insult to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the defamation case filed against the Congress leader.
Questioning the basis on which Rahul called him a ‘fugitive of justice’, Lalit said he has never been convicted of any crime.
Claiming that he created the ‘greatest sporting event in this world’ which has generated ‘close to 100 billion dollars’ Lalit said that his family has done more for India than the Gandhi family.
Lalit challenged Rahul to prove for his allegations and added that he looks forward to seeing him in court.
