Mumbai: MP Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana have thrown yet another challenge to Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and Shiv Sena.
They have threatened to recite the Hanuman Chalisa at Bandra Kurla Complex, where Uddhav held a public rally on Saturday, reported Hindustan Times.
The Ranas, who were arrested after announcing a programme to recite Hanuman Chalisa outside Uddhav’s residence, did not specify a date for their latest plan.
“I am challenging him (Thackeray). We will organise a massive recitation of Hanuman Chalisa at the location where the rally was held,” said Ravi, an independent MLA from Badnera in Amravati district.
Though they cancelled their previous plan, they were arrested on April 23 and got bail 12 days later.
The Ranas said the CM was diluting his commitment to Hindutva for the sake of power.
“He (Thackeray) did not speak even a line on flowers being offered at the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. Why is it so? They call themselves Hindutvawadis, but are they walking on Aurangzeb’s path? Are they turning into the Aurangzeb Sena?” quipped Navneet, referring to AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi paying his respects at the tomb of the Mughal emperor at Aurangabad.
Navneet remarked that if Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray was alive, Owaisi would have had to pay a price for showing reverence to the Mughal ruler who is reviled for his fanaticism and brutal killing of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
