Bhubaneswar: The External Affairs Ministry has started sending two text messages to passport holders seven and nine months before their document’s expiry date.
Confirming this, Regional Passport Officer Sudhanshu Sekhar Miishra said the objective of the alerts was to save passport holders from last minute hassles.
An update on the Passport Sewa website said that the phone alerts would also inform the recipients of the authentic website (www.passportindia.gov.in) hosted by the ministry for online submission of passport applications.
