New Delhi: Protests and demonstrations have taken a violent turn in some places in Karnataka after students were not allowed to enter classrooms for wearing hijab (a headscarf worn by Muslim women) at the Government Girls PU college in the Udupi district on February 4.
Several prominent names have reacted to the entire episode with the latest being Manchester United star Paul Pogba. Highlighting the ongoing situation in India, the French footballer took to Instagram and shared a story.
A three-day holiday has been declared in all the universities under the Department of Higher Education and colleges under the department of Collegiate and Technical Education (DCTE) from February 9 after the protests.
The Karnataka High court has also ordered students not to insist on wearing any cloth on campuses of educational institutions which can instigate people till the matter gets resolved.
