Now, Unemployed Techie Commits Suicide Over Live-In Partner’s Taunts

New Delhi: After two incidents of suicide in Bengaluru, allegedly forced by the respective wives’ misbehaviour, another similar tragedy has been reported, this time from north India.

A 27-year-old engineer died by suicide in Noida, leaving behind a note in which he alleged that he was at the receiving end of repeated taunts from his live-in partner for being unemployed.

The deceased engineer, identified as Mayank Chandel, cited mental stress due to unemployment and constant taunts from his live-in partner about his joblessness as reasons for taking the extreme step, NDTV reported.

A native of Jalalabad in Uttar Pradesh, Chandel was in a relationship with a woman for seven years, and living together for four years in Noida’s Sector 73.

The techie added in the suicide note that his partner’s taunts about his unemployment and comments like “sitting at home and eating all day” added to his stress.

Chandel mentioned that he was taking his life because of all these factors, but did not blame anyone directly.

The live-in partner found Chandel’s body hanging from a fan in their apartment after she returned from work on Friday evening. She duly informed the police, who took custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem as part of the investigation.

Over the past week, Atul Subhash, an engineer who worked in Bengaluru, died by suicide alleging harassment by his wife in a video and a note.

Two days ago, a police constable in Bengaluru committed suicide and blamed his wife for torturing him in a suicide note.
