New Delhi: The country’s largest credit card issuer SBI Card on Monday announced that it had tied up with Google and users can now make card payments using Google Pay app on their Android smartphones.
Google Pay users can use their SBI cards in 3 modes: tap-and-pay at near field communication (NFC) enabled point-of-sale terminals, scan Bharat QR code at the merchant or pay online without using the physical credit card.
This will make payments from SBI cards more convenient and also promote contactless digital payments.
“As smartphone penetration in India soars, credit cards have also changed form to reside securely on the mobile phone. Our partnership with Google opens up a new, secure and seamless payment route for our customers using smartphones,” said Managing Director and CEO at SBI Card Ashwini Kumar Tewari.
