Nowcast Warning For Kataka City Till 9PM, Wet Spell May Extend Till August 11 In Odisha


Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for Odisha’s Kataka city till 9 pm on Wednesday.

Light to moderate rain along with lightning and thunderstorm may occur at one or two places in the district of Kataka, including Kataka city, during the next 2 hours. People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.

The IMD has also forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places in Mayurbhanj district till 8.30 am on Thursday. Heavy rain may also lash Kendujhar, Sundaragada, Sambalpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Ganjam during this period. There is also a warning of thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) for the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.

Very heavy rain may continue in the district of Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj during the subsequent 24 hours. Heavy rainfall may also occur at one or two places in Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Sundaragada, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Ganjam. Thunderstorm activity may continue in  Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonapur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamala, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada.

Heavy rain may continue to lash Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj on August 7; and Sundaragada, Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj on August 8.

On August 9, heavy to very heavy rain may resume in the districts of Mayurbhanj. Heavy rainfall may also occur at one or two places in Jajpur, Sundaragada, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam.

Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and gusty surface wind (30-40 kmph) is also likely at one or two places in the districts of Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghapur, Kataka, Sundaragada, Jharsuguda, Baragada, Sambalpur, Debagada, Anugola, Dhenkanal, Kendujhar, Mayurbhanj, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada on these three days.

On August 10-11, there is a warning of heavy rain for Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj with no large change thereafter.
