Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain/thundershower in next 3 hours in several places of Odisha including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
In a nowcast warning, issued at 10.10 pm, the regional office of IMD in Bhubaneswar said moderate rain/thundershower with one or two intense spell of rain is likely in districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Puri, Balasore and Nayagarh in next 3 hours.
On the impact of the rain, waterlogging in low lying areas, poor visibility and traffic disruption in urban areas are likely. People have been advised to avoid movement in these areas and make arrangement for drainage of excess water.
In a yellow message, the IMD said light to moderate rain/thundershower with lightning is likely in districts of Bargarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Kandhamal, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Mayurbhanj, Boudh, Sonepur, Balangir and Kalahandi during the period.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strike.
