Nuapada: With campaigning for the by-election to Nuapada Assembly constituency gradually heating up, opposition Congress is set to bring an array of its national leaders to bolster its prospects at the hustings.
As part of Congress’ high-profile campaign, Chief Minister of Telangana Revanth Reddy is all set to visit Nuapada on November 7 to attend election programmes in the remote area.
According to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Bhakta Charan Das, the Telangana Chief Minister is set to address a public meeting during his visit to Nuapada, where by-election is scheduled to be held on November 11.
Ahead of Reddy’s visit, OPCC chief Das visited the site of the meeting to be held at Nuapada Salevata and reviewed arrangements being made for the event.
He was accompanied by Congress candidate for the bypoll Ghasiram Majhi, MLA Ashok Das, former IAS and Congress national Spokesperson Amit Hussain and Alok Babu.
Notably, Revant Reddy is among the 40 star campaigners of Congress for the upcoming by-election in Nuapada. The list also includes former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel, and senior Rajasthan leader and former Union Minister Sachin Pilot.
Other prominent campaigners include AICC’s Odisha in-charge Ajay Kumar Lallu, Kanhaiya Kumar, Alka Lamba, OPCC president Bhakta Charan Das, Congress legislature party leader Ramachandra Kadam, and MP Saptagiri Ulaka.
Party insiders believe the presence of national leaders will energise grassroots workers and help the Congress regain its foothold in the region.
Meanwhile, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) have also unveiled their campaign strategies.
The BJP has fielded Jay Dholakia and will be supported by Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai, Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw, Jual Oram, and organisational in-charge Sunil Bansal.
The BJD, which has nominated former Minister Snehangini Chhuria, will be backed by former CM Naveen Patnaik and senior leaders Prasanna Acharya, Debi Prasad Mishra, Ranendra Pratap Swain, Pranab Prakash Das, and Arun Sahoo.
BJD president Naveen Patnaik and Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi are set to hit the campaign trail soon to galvanise the prospects of their party candidates.
