Nuapada: Protesting against unscheduled power cuts, different youth organisations observed a 12-hour bandh at Komna block of Nuapada district on Friday disrupting normal life in the locality.
Shops, business establishments and offices remained closed while vehicles remained off the roads at mist places owing to the strike. However, only buses were allowed to ply in view of the annual matriculation supplementary examinations that began this morning.
The bandh supporters picketed and stage road blockades at important junctions to press for their demand.
The agitators alleged that unscheduled power cuts have been making life miserable for the residents of Komna block and nearby villages for the last few days. Even after repeated appeals, no concrete steps have been taken by the local electricity officials so far to sort out the issue, they said.
