Patna: In another disgraceful case of crime against women, a nurse was gangraped and murdered by a doctor and compounders of a private nursing home where she worked.
The crime took place in Bihar’s East Champaran district, where the victim worked at Janki Sewa Sadan Nursing Home in Motihari.
Bihar police have arrested a compounder, but the accused doctor and other staff are still on the run.
The nursing home has been sealed by police.
The 30-year-old victim, a widow, had a four-year-old child. Her mother has registered an FIR against Dr Jaiprakash Das and five others.
According to the victim’s mother, Mantosh Kumar used to manage the nursing home along with Dr Das.
“After her husband’s demise, my daughter stayed with me. Seeing our condition, Jayprakash and Mantosh proposed that I send my daughter to their clinic, where she could earn some money and learn new skills,” said the mother.
“Since she was looking for work, my daughter agreed and went to work there. However, on returning from there, she refused to go back. When questioned, she explained that the activities of doctor and others were suspicious and they had also harassed her. As she refused to return to that place, Jaiprakash and Mantosh came to my house a few days later, apologised and asked her to return to work, assuring her of better conditions and pay,” added the victim’s mother.
She informed that her daughter went to the nursing home on August 8 but did not return.
“Later, Jaiprakash informed us that her health was deteriorating, and she was in Muzaffarpur. However, we did not find her in the hospital that he mentioned. After an extensive search, we found my daughter’s body in an ambulance,” stated her mother.
Based on her statement, police filed a case against five individuals, including Dr Das.
“A search is on for the remaining suspects. The team is active, and all the accused in the case will be arrested soon,” said the Motihari SP.
