Bhubaneswar: Police on Saturday arrested a woman for posing as a nurse and duping three people with job offers at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
The accused, Kabita Adhikari (27), duped her three victims of Rs 5 lakh, police said.
Kabita, who hails from Kandhamal district, was staying at a rented house at Khandagiri and posed as a staff nurse at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
Kabita’s first victim was her widowed house owner, Shanti Sahoo, who was in desperate need of a job following her husband’s death. Kabita took Rs 50,000 from Shanti, promising her a job at the premiere city hospital.
Shanti’s two relatives, Krushna Chandra Sahoo and Dinabandhu Sahoo, also fell into her trap. She took Rs 4 lakh in installments on the same pretext.
When Kabita failed to give any appointment letter, the trio asked her to refund the money. Later, they realized her scam and lodged a complaint at Khandagiri police station.
Kabita is a repeat offender. Earlier, Chauliaganj police in Cuttack had arrested her in a fraud case, sources said.
