New York: Eight people, including four children, were wounded in a shooting in Brook
lyn’s Coney Island neighbourhood late on the Fourth of July, according to police and ABC News.
The victims were taken to hospitals, with seven reported in stable condition and one woman in critical condition.
The shooting unfolded at about 10:37 pm local time on the 2900 block of West 31st Street, prompting a heavy emergency response in the area. Police said the injured included two men, aged 37 and 33, two women, aged 25 and 21, and four boys, aged 14, 12, 7 and 6.
According to the New York Police Department, a firearm was recovered from the scene, but no arrests had been made as of Sunday. Authorities have not yet identified the victims or said what led to the gunfire.
The incident remains under investigation.
