Dhenkanal: A constable of the Odisha Auxiliary Police Force (OAPF) was found hanging inside his rented house in Dhenkanal town on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Sankar Pradhan, a resident of Katama village in Gajapati district. He was staying in a rented asbestos-roofed house at BIla Sahi under Ward No. 10 in Dhenkanal town.
Preliminary reports indicate that Shankar had been under considerable mental stress for the last one-and-a-half years after being suspended from service.
While police suspect that the constable may have died by suicide, the exact circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be established.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and sent the body for postmortem.
