Bhubaneswar: The state-wide survey of social and educational conditions of people belonging to other backward classes (OBC) will continue till June 6 in Odisha.
The Odisha State Commission for Backward Classes, which is conducting the survey in all 314 blocks and 114 civic body areas, had set May 27 as the last day of the survey.
However, the deadline of the survey, being conducted in both offline and online mode since May 1, has been extended up to June 6 in view of the ongoing scorching heat wave conditions.
The people have been requested to submit their details to the enumerators. They can also register their details for the survey online (www.oscbc.odisha.gov.in) free of cost.
In offline mode, heads of the families or any senior person can provide family data at the survey counters set up at the Anganwadi centres and schools. Anganwadi workers and teachers have been engaged as enumerators. People can also register their details at ‘Mo Seva Kendra’ by making the requisite payment.
The survey is being done to collect information with a questionnaire on the kind of houses they live in, their livelihoods, access to infrastructure, hospitals, schools, markets, colleges, etc.
Currently, Odisha has reservation quotas of 22.5 per cent, 16.25 per cent and 11.25 for SC, ST and OBC categories respectively. It remains to be seen whether the reservation quotas for the OBCs will be increased after the completion of the survey.
The social and educational conditions of 208 OBC communities enlisted by the state government are being collected during the survey, being conducted by the OSCBC in all 314 blocks and 114 ULBs areas.
