Cuttack: In a touching gesture, the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has decided to introduce a ‘Legendary Box’ at Barabati Stadium to honour eminent sports personalities such as Padma awardees, Khel Ratna recipients and other notable national and international figures.
The special box will be inaugurated during the second ODI between India and England to be played at Cuttack on February 9.
The box, located near the players’ dressing room, will be like an open lounge and has a seating capacity of 60.
OCA secretary Sanjay Behera said it’s a gesture of respect for those who had excelled in sports over the years.
“The legendary box is a tribute to the icons who made remarkable contributions to sports. It will provide a premium and memorable experience for the distinguished guests attending the match,” said Behera.
“This is not just a seating arrangement but a gesture of respect and acknowledgement towards those who dedicated their lives to promoting sports and inspiring the nation,” Behera explained.
OCA will make the experience memorable for the guests by presenting them special mementoes and custom-designed blazers as a token of appreciation for their achievements and contributions to sports.
Behera on Monday chaired a number of sub-committee meetings at OCA Conference Hall to ensure smooth conduct of the ensuing ODI.
