Puri: In a tragic incident, a devotee died after having darshan of sibling deities at Gundicha temple in Odisha’s Puri town on Tuesday.
As per the reports, the devotee, identified as 82-year-old Laxmidhar Khuntia of Kakatpur in Puri district had come along with his family to offer prayer to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra who are now worshipped in Gundicha temple.
Laxmidhar and his family went inside the temple and had “Sandhya Darshan” of the sibling deities on Adapa Mandap. On their out of the temple, Laxmidhar fell ill and was rushed to the district headquarters hospital by his family members. But he succumbed in the hospital. The cause of death has not been ascertained.
It may be noted that another devotee had died during Snana Yatra of the deities at Jagannath temple in the town on June 4.
