ODI World Record: India Hammer Lanka By 317 Runs; Check 5 Biggest Victory Margins

Thiruvananthapuram: Team India toyed with Sri Lanka in the third and final ODI to wallop them by a record 317 runs here on Sunday night.

It was the biggest victory margin in terms of runs by any team in ODI history.

The previous record was New Zealand’s 290-run win over Ireland in July 2008.

After Virat Kohli’s sensational unbeaten 166 off 110 balls and Shubman Gill’s classy 116 (97 balls) helped India amass 390/5, the fiery Mohammad Siraj (4/32) cut the hapless Lankans to size. Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with 2 wickets each as India skittled out Lanka for a sorry 73 in 22 overs.

Just three batsmen got into double digits, with the top score being 19.

Kohli, who scored 2 centuries in the three matches, received the Player of the Match as well as Player of the Series awards.

India’s next assignments are a 3-ODI series followed by a 3-match T20I series at home against New Zealand.

Brief scores: India 390/5 in 50 overs (Virat Kohli 166*, Shubman Gill 116; Kasun Rajitha 2/81). Sri Lanka 73 all out in 22 overs (Mohammad Siraj 4/32, Kuldeep Yadav 2/16, Mohammad Shami 2/20).

Result: India won by 317 runs.

Series: India won 3-0.
