Bhubaneswar: Young author Rojalin Mohanty from Odisha has been selected for the PM-YUVA 2.0 Mentorship Scheme for 2022-23.
She is among 44 budding authors below the age of 30 who have been selected by the National Book Trust (NBT) to write books on a spectrum of subjects to promote Indian heritage, culture and knowledge.
The PM-YUVA Mentorship Scheme, initiated by the Ministry of Education along with the NBT as an implementing agency, aims to provide a window for aspiring youth to articulate themselves in their mother tongue and represent India at global level. The selected young authors would be given a monthly scholarship of Rs 50,000 for six months.
Rojalin was selected based on a manuscript written by her in Odia on Mayurbhanj King Maharaja Sriramchandra Bhanj Deo. The NBT will publish the book written by her under the scheme. The book will also be published in languages other than Odia.
Rojalin during her recent visit to Delhi to participate in the World Book Fair at Paragati Maidan also met President Droupadi Murmu who appreciated her efforts in documenting the underrepresented parts of the freedom struggle.
“I got the opportunity to attend the World Book Fair on February 10 and meet the President next day. It was an immense honour for a writer like me to meet the President,” Rojalin told media.
Rojalin, who also works as an anchor with Doordarshan and All India Radio, has been honoured with Katha Nabapratibha and Kadambini Nabaunmesha awards for her contribution to Odia literature.
