Nitya Majhi has made Odisha and India proud by winning a bronze medal in 46 kg Pre-Cadet Boys at the ongoing Commonwealth Judo Championship at Birmingham, UK.
He is the first Odia international judo player to win a medal at an international event.
A Class X Student of KISS, Nitya has been training in judo since 2013 under his coach coach Kandan Murmu.
He belongs to a poor farmer family of Kandhamal district.
The KISS student had earlier bagged gold, silver and bronze medals in state-level competitions. He made it to the Indian team for the Commonwealth event by defeating judokas from Haryana, Maharashtra and Delhi.
