Kolkata: An Odia engineer stranded in the city due to the countrywide lockdown was finally reunited with his family in Cuttack following an initiative by members of Utkal Samaj in Kolkata.
The engineer was suffering from depression after being stranded in a south Kolkta locality. “One month ago, his wife had returned to Odisha while he was stuck in the city due to the lockdown,” a Kolkata police officer told the Times of India.
After coming to know of his plight, members of Utkal Samaj rescued him and sought police help to let him go back to his native place.
Police granted special permission to the man on health grounds to travel to Cuttack. He was reunited with his family on Tuesday, the report said.
